This is where I, as Scoutmaster get to pass on knowledge, experiences, and words of wisdom about Scouting and life in general. This page should be updated often, so please visit often.

The third point of the Scout Law is Helpful. The Scout slogan is "Do a Good Turn Daily." A Scout is expected to go out of their way every day to do at least one thing for someone else without monetary gain or expecting anything in return.

The following story is true:

There was an Adult who was injured at work and in a great deal of pain both during and after a campout. The Adult had to move slowly and not strain themselves as to not cause pain. The Adult realized when leaving for home after the campout that extending their arm to close their heavy car door may cause them considerable pain. A Scout was standing near the car door and the Adult asked the Scout to please close the car door. The Scout complied and then asked the Adult what they get for closing the door. The Adult told the Scout that they would get nothing for helping. The Scout then reopened the door and walked away. Luckily, another Scout was near by and willingly closed the door for the Adult.

The Adult in this story was me. I injured a chest muscle at work while breaking up a fight earlier in the week and was in a lot of pain Sunday during the campout. The Scout that walked away knows who he is. I would like to personally thank the second Scout that closed the door to my truck without expecting anything but a "Thank You" in return.
