Great Online Resource From Discovery Channel MAN VS WILD SURVIVAL ZONE
There is now a calendar online for the Wilderness Survival Trip. Please check out the calendar and check back often for updates. CALENDAR IS NOT CURRENT AT THIS TIME
There will be an informational meeting for Scouts and their parents that are interested in going on the Wilderness Survival Trip. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19th from 7:30 to 9:00 PM at the American Legion. All Scouts 14 years of age or older and their parents from Troops 113 are invited to attend. Information about the weekend will be shared and questions will be answered.
Scouts planning on attending the Wilderness Survival Trip need to schedule an appointment with Erik ASAP for an interview about the trip. The dates and times of the interviews are listed here. After the interview, prospective Scouts will have a better understanding of what the weekend may be like. Please pick three open time slots and e-mail Erik so that he can schedule a time to meet. The interview should last about one hour. When choosing a time to meet, please be sure that there is at least an hour of OPEN time available on Erik's schedule on the link below.
Schedule an Interview with Erik
The Third Biannual Senior
Wilderness Survival Trip will be held June 4th through 6th
, 2010. This is a very realistic wilderness survival experience held over a
three-days. Most of the information about the weekend is kept from the
participants until they arrive at the secret location. Seniors that attend the
weekend will first go through wilderness survival training in the months prior
to the weekend.
This year's wilderness survival weekend will be different from the first one.
Most of the differences will not be revealed until the weekend begins.
There will be a Phase II for Scouts that attended the first wilderness survival weekend. Scouts that attended the first weekend may also volunteer to be on Staff for this weekend. I would also like honest feedback about the experience and new ideas that you have to improve and change the experience from Scouts that attended the first weekend. Please send me your input, ideas, and let me know if you would like to do Phase II or be on Staff for 2010.
SCOUTS THAT ATTENDED THE FIRST WEEKEND ARE
REMINDED NOT TO DISCUSS WHAT WENT ON WITH ANYONE AS TO NOT RUIN THE EXPERIENCE
FOR THIS YEAR'S GROUP.
Parents are let in on the details before the weekend at a parent meeting. We
also need adults to attend and also drive Scouts to the location
INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS
Individual interviews will be held for Scouts interested in participating. During these interviews, prospective Scouts will get a good idea of what may happen during the weekend. Information about participants will also be taken to be used to organize and plan the weekend. After the interview, Scouts can decide if they want to commit to the trip. Times for appointments will be announced soon.
Please email Erik with your
First, Second, and Third choice for an appointment time. He will email back with
your time.
There will be another individual meeting closer to the trip to complete a skills
assessment.
